Reflection Post

One of my favorite projects I’ve done in Com 210 was the logo design project. I really enjoyed this project because I felt like I had my own company and was advertising it. I created a logo that said “RF fashion line” with a women in a dress in-between my initials.

Some skills I learned in this class were Photoshop, using Adobe apps, creating video and audio stories. These skills will help me in the future because I am a Strategic Communication major and am minoring in Sports Management. With my major and minor, I hope to go in the direction of advertising for a sports related industry. In that industry I will be using all those skills on a day-to-day basis.

As I said above, I would like to be advertising for a sports related business, but if that does not work out right away I am open to any advertising position. I would consider looking into fashion advertising, since I do have a passion for it. The skills that will be influential in my career path are the editing and creating of collages or pictures in Adobe and Photoshop. These are very useful skills in the advertising business.

There was no particular skill I wish I had learned in this course. I came into this course knowing nothing about how to use Adobe or Photoshop and think I came out learning more than I expected.

If I didn’t understand how to do something from the course directions or videos I would look up tips on YouTube. YouTube has millions of videos and a lot were helpful for me.

Overall, I enjoyed this course. It was very different from any other course I have taken. I learned a lot of new stuff that I am excited to explore more.

Final Video Post 2

Hello!

For my video draft, I decided to make a video showing off different winter outfits modeled by my friends. I thought this would fit perfectly with my blog  topic, fashion. I wanted to record my friends walking in the outfits like it was a lowkey fashion show. The two models in my video are my friends Anna (1stin video) and Emma (2ndin video); they gave me permission to record them and use the recordings in my project.

To begin my video draft, I recorded my closet to be the opening clip in my video. I then recorded my friend Anna wearing an outfit that would be worn walking to class in the winter. When Anna got to the end of the hall I explained what she was wearing. I did the same thing with Emma, but she was wearing an outfit to go out in at night. Once I got all my footage I imported it into Premiere Pro. I added a title to the beginning of my video like we learned in the tutorials. I also added titles explaining what outfit was being worn. After that, I added the effect “dip to black” to the ends of each video because it was a nice transition. The last thing I edited in was the music . I downloaded music from one of our old tutorials and cut it off when I was talking about the clothes. I also added the effect “exponential fade” to the beginnings and ends of the music clips.

In my final video, I made a few revisions based on the feedback I got. The first was changing the music to a better track. I downloaded the song I used in my final video from the free YouTube Audio Library. The track is called “Feather Duster”. In addition, instead of cutting the music off when I started talking, like I did in my draft, I just lowered the music levels so you could hear my voice. Some other advice I got was to just polish up my overall video and that’s what I did! I cut tiny parts out of the video clips to make it shorter and less dragged on.

I really liked how it turned out, enjoy!

Draft Video Story

Hello!

For my video draft, I decided to create a video of my friends modeling winter outfits that could possibly be worn in Pullman. Since my topic is fashion, I thought a good idea for my video was to dress my friends up and record them walking (like a runway).  After I figured out what I was going to do for the video I had to ask two of my friends to model. Anna (1stin the video) and Emma (2ndin the video) both gave me their permission to use them in my project.

To begin, I recorded my closet to be the opening clip in my video. The last thing I edited in was the music. I downloaded music from one of our old tutorials and cut it off when I was talking about the clothes. I also added the effect “exponential fade” to the beginnings and ends of the music clips.

One thing I did have trouble with was the music. In my final, I am going to have music throughout the video, but just quieter at the points when I talk. This will keep a continuous flow in my video story. I also might re-record video footage so it is less shakey. Overall, I like my draft and am excited to edit it next week, enjoy!

I am going to narrate in the background while my friend models an outfit for class in the winter time. I will describe what type of clothing my friend id wearing to be warm and stylish!
0:30-0:50  The third visual will be of my friend wearing an outfit appropriate for going out during the winter. I will shoot them walking and turning around to show the outfit. In the background, I will explain what pieces of clothing my friend is wearing. It will be warm, but very trendy and fashionable.

Final Audio Story

Hello!

For my final audio story I decided to create a story based on spring fashion. It started to get sunny in Pullman so I thought this would be the perfect time to discuss spring fashion! At the beginning of my story, I decided to start with an introduction of what is to come in the audio story. After that, I explained my favorite spring outfit; then, I interviewed my friends Jack and Ryli and asked them what their favorite spring looks were.

For my initial audio story draft, my idea was to interview my friends and have less of my own voice in the video. After I got all my interview recordings for my draft, I put them together in Adobe Audition. I put each recording on a new track and then downloaded music from https://freesound.org/people/klaudux/sounds/264081/which is a website with a Creative Commons License. I added the music to the beginning and end of my audio story draft.

For my final audio story, I made a couple tweaks. The first change I made was putting more of my own voice in the story. I thought having my voice start and end the video made it sound more complete. I also added the music in the background in-between each track I had. I did this because I thought it added more depth to my story. In order to make the music flow in the background with talking I used the fade in and fade out tools. I’m very glad I edited the music with the fade in and fade out tools because it makes the story less choppy.

The revisions I made were because of the feedback I got from my peers. The first comment I agreed with was making the music fade in and out. I noticed in my initial draft the music was a little choppy and adding the fade in and out made it continually flow. I also got a comment about my voice being monotone, so I re-recorded some clips and tried to sound more excited. I think with these two main revisions my audio story was improved immensely. I hope you enjoy!

Audio Story Draft

Hello!

For this audio story draft I decided to create a story based on spring fashion. It just started to get sunny in Pullman so I thought this would be a perfect time to discuss spring fashion! At the beginning of my story I decided to explain one of my favorite spring outfits; after that, I interviewed my friends Clarisa, Emily and Jack about their favorite looks and places to get things.

This story relates to my blog topic because I discuss my favorite spring outfit and then ask my friends what their favorite spring colors are and where they enjoy shopping. My friends and I are significant to this story because we talk about fashion and other topics related to fashion.

My design process started with me recording myself for the beginning of my story and the end. I decided I wanted to do that because it would give my story a parallel element. After recording myself I conducted an interview with my friend Emily and Clarisa. I asked them both what their favorite spring color was. I thought this would be good for my story because certain seasons have more favorable colors. Clarisa and Emily said two light colors because it is lighter in the day now. I then asked them where they like to get their favorite sunglasses because sunglasses are always a statement piece! After interviewing Emily and Clarisa I interviewed my friend Jack; I asked Jack what his favorite spring outfit was because I wanted a boy’s fashion opinion in my story.

After collecting all my recordings, I put them into Adobe Audition and cut down each track so they sounded more professional. I also added in chill background music in-between tracks to make it more interesting. I downloaded this music from https://freesound.org/people/klaudux/sounds/264081/which is a website with a Creative Commons License. After I listened to my story all together I enjoyed it because it turned out well and it’s just my first draft!

I hope you enjoy!
